Easter Egg Hunt

DSC_0146 DSC_0026

For our Family Easter Egg Hunt, Boo Sheep came up with a great idea.  We knew that we were going to do lunch (sandwiches, chips, pickles) and then have an Egg Hunt (little kids in the front yard, big kids in the backyard).  We also knew that we wanted to do something “special”, especially for our Caterpillars – since we decided not to do Easter Baskets.  (The bunny doesn’t visit our house, either way.)  So, I picked up 7 puzzles (one for each kid) and labeled 9 eggs (per kid) and filled them with puzzle pieces.  The kids then had to find their eggs, and then put their puzzle together.  Once all the puzzles were done – then we would give them their Easter Card from the family (Boo had given each kid a FroYo Gift Card, Cookie had given each kid a Barnes & Noble Gift Card, and I had gotten each kid a Target Gift Card).

The idea was to do 48 piece Disney puzzles for the Little Girls (GO and Sister Sheep), 100 piece Star Wars Puzzles for the Middle Boys (CW and Brother Sheep), and 101 piece Landscape Puzzles for the Older Kids (B10, CAM, and OPM).  This did NOT go as planned.  The little kids (GO, Sister Sheep, Brother Sheep, and Went) found their eggs quickly, and then it took a bit of Adult Help, but they got their puzzles done and then played games with each other.  The older kids puzzles – those were HARD.  Even with adult help, they took over an hour.

Overall, it was a fun afternoon.  And very different.  We’ve already decided that this will be our Easter Tradition – next year, we’ll have another little cousin in the mix – and Went will be able to actually put together a puzzle of sorts.  I’m on the lookout for awesome puzzles!  Plus, the kids really seemed to like the cards.

And Seven More Passes By

Ha – last time I posted, it seemed odd I had gone six weeks without a blog post.  This time I went seven.

In my mind, I’ve started lots of blog posts, but they go nowhere.  The effort seems insurmountable.  Which is odd.  Type some stuff, post a picture, hit publish, smile.  Not hard.

GO is outside playing with the puppies (and singing “Let It Go” loudly on the back porch – like most other five year olds in America).  Went is letting me know from his bedroom that bedtime is most assuredly NOT 7:45pm, even if he’s had no nap and can barely hold his eyes open.  The big boys are at their Dad’s house and Otto has spent the week at a conference.  It’s just been me and the Littles hanging out.

I am trying to find the joy again.  Not in blogging, per say, but at all.  I enjoy spending time with my friends and my caterpillars.  I’m doing better with that (tonight, for example, I was at my wits end, but decided to take them out to the park instead of sitting at home feeling sad).  But the daily joy isn’t as easy to find.  I’m weary.  Why?  I don’t have near the burdens that others carry.  My health isn’t great – but I’m not bedridden.  My caterpillars are all safe and happy and healthy.

My head knows I am blessed and my heart is trying to catch up.

My beautiful GO - all ready for her date night.

How can I be sad – with a face like that looking at me every day?
