Puppies in the Snow

Esther and Reuben have loved the white stuff falling from the sky.  They have chased each other around in circles – buried (and unburied) all sorts of toys – barked and played and had the time of their puppy lives!

I loved taking pictures and watching them have fun when the Caterpillars came out to play, too.

Our First Snowflake Fall

SWEE says "HI!"

SWEE says “HI!”

We were solidly snowed in – B10 was at Cookie’s house (we “sent” him there to get a head start on his term paper, better to get stuff done while we CAN’T go anywhere), the rest of us were at home (safe).  We did a little outside time, Went was NOT a fan of the cold/wet stuff.  When Papa Otto was holding him, he was okay, but he did NOT want to get put down.

Our family ended the night with a fire in the fireplace, and I even had smore fixins – which the Caterpillars LOVED.

It wasn’t perfect, but we were safe, warm and together.  That made it wonderful.

Happy Birthday-Snowday to GO!

Look at the sweet smile!

Look at the sweet smile!

GO’s 5th birthday was a true treat.  We went to bed the night before, knowing that school was letting out a little early.  There was a “risk” of ice (which turned into one of the worst ice storm situations Atlanta has seen).  I was nervous about Otto getting home.  By the time I buckled GO in the car after school, snowflakes were falling.  Otto made it home safely, before dark – and we spent GO’s birthday celebrating in snowy style!

Trip to Calhoun

Instead of trying to do a drive up and back to pick up the boys (B10 and CW were at their Dad’s house for B10’s Birthday/New Year), Otto surprised me with a trip to Calhoun.  We loaded up the puppies and littles and headed up I-75 to explore a little town we had always just driven through.  We tried restaurants that were listed in our book (one of my Christmas presents from Otto was “Day Trips From Atlanta).  It was FREEZING – we even saw a bit of snow!

We enjoyed snuggling and staying warm with the puppies and watching lots of HGTV – not that different from home in some regards.

We picked out flavored popcorn and shared it!  Delicious!

We visited a Russian Orthodox Monastery – the best part for Otto and I.

An amazing short trip, that started the year off right…  I am lucky to have such a great husband, who knows me so well.

I love this photo of them both snoozing away.

Happy New Year!

And watching the Tigers play on TV!

This cracked me up.  Went HATES to have his clothes taken off or put on.  HATES it.  SCREAMS bloody murder every time.  Well, after we got him in his jammies (screaming and flopping), he went over to my bag that I hadn’t yet unpacked and pulled out my LSU sweatshirt.  He spent about 10 minutes trying to wrap it around his shoulders, then he brought it to me.  He sat incredibly still and let Otto put it on him and roll up the sleeves.  Then he wore it ALL NIGHT LONG.  He loves it.

"What, Mummy? Did you think this was YOURS? I mean, it SMELLS like you, but that just means I'll sleep better."

Watching The Rose Parade on HGTV (I love the Property Brothers and they are hosting).  Football comes in just a little bit.  Dropping Otto’s car at the shop and GO off at her cousins house soon, then Jambalaya and fresh bread for dinner!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
