Things I Love – Ellembee Clothes

A few years ago, my awesome parental people – Daddy and Lala (AKA: Minnie Mouse) – found me a gorgeous hoodie at a local fair, by a woman with a company called Ellembee.  It was grey with beautiful white flowers.  A couple of years later, I received a v-neck shirt, a slightly darker shade of grey, and it quickly became one of my favorite tops.  I love the handmade look and the softness of the cotton.  Flash-forward to Christmas 2014.  KB had a gift under the tree, so to speak, and I was thrilled beyond belief when I opened it.  Her very own Ellembee Onesies!

Being a smart person, Lala had chosen onesies in the 3-6 month size.  Today was the first day my little girl could wear her Giraffe Onesie!

I was so excited I had to post to their Facebook page. 😀

PS – I got no money from this, no free stuff, and if you click on the links and purchase anything – I don’t get anything for that.  I just ❤ Ellembee so much that I wanted to share! 🙂

Visiting Granddaddy and Lala – Day 2

We started Day 2 off visiting Granddaddy and Lala’s church.  The preacher is excellent, and I appreciated his clarity in speaking.  I like sermons that are easily outlined.

For lunch, we had Red Robin.  I confess this was my suggestion, as I am a huge sucker for unlimited french fries.

We all headed home to nap/rest, before Granddaddy had a special treat for us – a place to play in the river!  B10 and CW were wonderful and didn’t get wetter then allowed (they were told up to their knees, which in B10’s case, is pretty deep).  Went landed on his bottom a couple of times, but we had a change of clothes in the van for after.  GO fell down once, but she was so busy finding her pretty river shells (and collecting them to bring home), that it didn’t really bother her.

On our way home for dinner we (of course) did a little geocaching.  And afterwards, it was time for the traditional “filling of the birdfeeders” with Granddaddy (one of my favorite traditions). Then bathes for everyone and bedtime (it’s tiring playing in the creek – but bathes are REQUIRED!).

Another wonderful day!

Visiting Granddaddy and Lala – Day 1

The stars (and vacation times) aligned this year, and we were able to spend four days with Granddaddy and Lala in Tennessee.  B10 and CW returned from their dad’s house today, and we spent the morning being lazy.  Well, most of the adults were being lazy, GO was going to the door every five minutes and asking when brothers would be home (and crying because they weren’t there).  This extreme case of missing her brothers lasted exactly 2.5 hours, before they were back sniping at one another as siblings do.

After the boy Caterpillars got home, we loaded up the cars and headed to Jason’s Deli for lunch.  We adore their salad bar (everyone but the littles and Lala got the bar), and the free ice cream for dessert.

Lala headed home to rest, while we took the Caterpillars out to Stones River National Battlefield.  Granddaddy had the idea for us to do a special geocache called a Whereigo.  When doing the geocache, we were able to also see the Civil War Renactors shoot cannons (GO HATED that part) and then they had set up camp, where we could wander.  The Caterpillars could do different activities and earn trading cards, which was *way* cool.

After grabbing a few more caches (we are seriously on a caching streak – with over 50 in the last month!), we headed home to a delicious dinner that Lala cooked.

It was a nice and relaxing day – with only one rooster who tried to “catch” us. 😉  I am always excited to have my big boys home, and today was no exception.

Father’s Day #2

To finish celebrating Father’s Day, Granddaddy and Lala came down to visit us and we all went to see a G-Braves game.  It was *H*O*T*, but not crowded, so we were able to spend plenty of time in the shade.  Went wasn’t having any part of sitting still (I think he knew he would fall asleep if he did!).

The extra-special touch on the end was that even though Uncle Firefighter couldn’t join us, BrotherSheep won TWO tickets to come back to a G-Braves game – so he could take his daddy back, before the end of the season!

Happy Birthday, B10!

I can hardly believe my oldest baby Caterpillar turned 14 today.  I’m the luckiest mum alive to have this kid as my own.

We celebrated with Granddaddy and Minnie Mouse, before his birthday (he was at his Daddy’s ON his birthday) and we will celebrate at home in early January.  They made sure he had a delicious cake and ice cream.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY – I’m so proud of you, B10.  You have a life plan ahead of you, and you work hard every day to make your dreams happen.  You’ve got values and firm foundations of right and wrong.  I am blessed!

I don’t usually share personally stories about my older Caterpillars, to give them privacy – but I wanted to share an incident that happened recently.  B10 gets a lot of flack, because he is his own person.  His mind is his own and while that means he is very much NOT a follower, it also means he can be quite bullheaded and stubborn.  He had his first “date” recently, with a girl who was a good friend, then one of his best friends, and now he asked if he could take her out on a date.  I chaperoned and was so proud of his gentlemanly behavior – not just opening the car doors and such for her, but doing the same for me.  During this date, I saw at least twice a grownup giving my son and his date a sideways look, and I’m sure it’s because this sweet girl (a family friend and fellow homeschooled student) is black and as you all know, B10 is about as white as they come.

Both times, I saw my son draw up and stand tall, ready to defend himself and his date – but not being confrontational.  I could not be more proud.  That’s the kind of man I want my son to become, and to see his behavior when he didn’t know anyone else was watching made my heart sing.

B10 – you are amazing.

There was also a nifty cow that dances and bounces when you press his nose.  It freaks out the kittens and makes Went giggle, so you know we had fun with it in our house!
