Today was spent listening to three Caterpillars bicker. Over a plastic slinky. There were loud arguments about a tiny yellow piece of plastic. And I loved every minute.
Otto took today off of work, so we could have one day to “travel” and do something. My sister, BooSheep, has taken her family to Bear Hollow in Athens a couple of times – and it came highly recommended.
We started the drive pretty early, picking up CW at his best friend’s house, then traveling to pick up GO from Cookie’s house. Once we had everyone in the car, we started off – breakfast was a short jaunt at Starbucks (YAY for cake pop treats in the morning, which hot chocolate!). BooSheep had a coupon for us for one of their favorite sweet treats in Athens, so we swung by school to grab it, before we made our way down Hwy 78.
The Bear Hollow attraction was so cool. I loved how as soon as we got to the front gate, B10 and CW stopped to read the rules outloud (one of our standard family things) and they were so cute describing them to GO in “her language”. I was so proud of them, while we were there, we encountered a “Mommy” group that was letting their hoodlums (no other word for it!) run WILD and SCREAM all over the small area. B10 said at one point – well within the adults’ hearing “aren’t we suppose to be quiet, so we don’t frighten the animals? Isn’t that what the RULES say?” Needless to say, I got shot a dirty look, and I merely raised my eyebrow as yet another screaming hoodlum jumped off a beach and slammed into his brother’s stroller. It was awesome.
For lunch, we headed to a local Chick-fil-a, which made everyone quite happy. Except GO – who for some reason decided sitting UNDER the table was a better idea for lunch. No clue…
We decided that it was a better idea to drive around before we ate our sweet treat, so Otto took us on a tour of the UGA campus. B10 was in heaven, he still wants to go with us (without siblings) so we can walk around, but he was so excited to see the Science Buildings and the dorms and stuff. GO fell asleep (apparently college campuses bore her…).
So, with one Caterpillar out – we made our way to Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. BooSheep gave us a $10 gift certificate, so our cost was only $0.79! (THANK YOU, BOOSHEEP!) The boys picked out their flavors, then added whatever toppings they desired. We ate on the way home, as GO was asleep, and we wanted her nap to last as long as possible.
At the apartment, GO changed her clothes, and we went off to the local playground for a few minutes. It was a beautiful early evening, and CW had a blast running back and forth on the trails with B10.
As a special dinner, Cookie was preparing a delicious dinner (Taco Salad) for us, and the three Caterpillars were spending the night with her. Otto and I stayed for dinner, and while GO had her bath, then kissed everyone goodnight. Tomorrow we meet Cookie for special breakfast – and continue our week with CW!
