Stone Mountain Park

Hubby and I talked about our budget, and decided that a good use of a part of our tax refund money would be to purchase our family annual passes to Stone Mountain Park.  This would enable us not have to pay parking for a year ($10 per car/per visit), plus access to all the “fun” things (except the “Ride the Ducks”).  Plus, they tend to be open during the day while school is in session, so the Caterpillars can have a free run of the activities.

I had the absolutely WORST time today, though, trying to purchase the tickets at Kroger.  Seriously – I stopped shopping there for a year, and I’m about to quit again.  The people are nice (most of them), but the corporation as a whole seems totally incompetent.  It took THREE Krogers to get me the tickets an when I finally got them – we realized that if the CSR at the FIRST Kroger had READ the instruction sheet, it would have taken 10 minutes, not an HOUR.  It was ALMOST not worth the discount, considering the price of gas!

When we got to the park, first on our agenda was having our pictures taken for our Pass IDs.  We snuck in right before a GIANT group going to Snow Mountain who needed lockers (good thing, since it was almost noon and we were starving).

We had a picnic lunch on one of the rock outcroppings.

GO was daring as she followed B10 and CW all over the granite.  Hubby and I came close to having heart attacks!

Our next step was to take a drive around the park, we were hoping to climb the mountain, but time was running late – and we were having the Royal Family over for dinner, so we couldn’t stay at the park too long.  We were planning to ride the SkyLift, but it was closed…(our luck was simply not good today!).

CW asked if we could play on this rocky area, where he had played before, and we spent a good 20 minutes there with the Caterpillars running free and laughing.

I’m excited about the next year!  I’m already thinking this could be a great field trip for Civil War History!

That looks like a very fun day! We love Stone Mountain! It is always fun to get a membership somewhere, so on the days you don’t have a lot of money, there is still something awesome to do. I love the pictures 🙂 Boo
