Project Day!

Today was basically Project Day at The C3 Academy of Homeschooling.

We began the day with math – because every day is a math day.  They were not thrilled…but then, when are they ever?

Next, we mummified an apple.  Using baking soda and salt, they helped me prepare an apple and then we’ll check on it in a week to see what it looks like.  I made them taste the mixture.  It was FUNNY!  (Or at least I thought so…)

After that, the Caterpillars had to make Lego Cell Models again.  Repetition drives it home and makes it stick.

Our special focus today was the Chinese New Year.  The boys watched the DVD from Panda Express (4 times!) and made Chinese Lanterns.  We had lunch at Panda Express (and I got NO pictures – Queen came with us though), where the highlight was GO asking to go potty!  I mean, the food was good, but YAY for GO!

After eating, we returned to the house and made Pipe Cleaner/Pony Bead DNA models.  I think they’ve really got a basic grasp of the idea of DNA, which is exciting.  Next week, I’m hoping to do a DNA extraction with them.  😀

Now, everyone is taking time to organize their baskets for Monday and grab the books they’ll read over the weekend.  It’s almost time to PARTY!
