Chanukah – Night 4

Tonight we had a GREAT family night.  For B10 and CW’s Christmas present, we decided to take them to a new restaurant (well, new to them).  For Chanukah, The Melting Pot was having an amazing special.  All You Can Eat Fondue for $40.  So, Hubby and I decided that the boy Caterpillars were old enough to go to a truly adult restaurant and eat.

First of all – they were wonderful.  They behaved like little adults (B10 isn’t really a little adult….he’s almost as tall as BooSheep).  They were interested in the food, made excellent food choices – and tried everything.  I love the fact that they are so adventurous when it comes to eating.

Second – we went in expecting to pay $40 for each person, but when we arrived we found out B10 and CW were only $11!!!  What a great surprise!  Because this was their big Christmas present, and a family Chanukah present, we had budgeted for one expensive dinner.  To find out we were saving A TON of money was a wonderful icing on an already delightful cake.

Third – we were under the impression that the “all-you-can-eat” portion meant as much of the apples/bread/veggies/meats/etc.  Actually, it meant as many different types of fondue as you wanted to try!  So Hubby and the boy Caterpillars tried two cheese fondues (Swiss and Cheddar), we had three salads, LOTS of meats (shrimp, steak and chicken), LOTS of veggies (mushrooms, broccoli and potatoes), then THREE different chocolate fondues (Yin & Yang, Chocolate & Peanut Butter, and S’mores with flaming marshmallows).

We are incredibly lucky to have such great kids.  And a special “thank you” to Cookie and Doc, who watched GO at the last minute, so we could spend time with B10 and CW in this “grown-up” setting.

Happy 4th Night of Chanukah!

YAY! Sounds like so much fun – and I’m SO excited that there was ‘icing’ for the lovely ‘cake’! Cookie said she wished she had a camera … 😀
